The formal piece of the house: a structured trapeze body, one rolled top handle, twin front straps closing on a gold seal turn-lock, and a detachable gold chain strap for the evening.
Buhle is the most demanding thing we make. The body is built over a hand-shaped frame so the trapeze holds its line empty or full, the corners are turned and stitched wet, and the flap is cut to close to a hairline against the front. Black Impala is dark to the root and never dyed; we see too few hides a year to promise more than a handful of these. The turn-lock is the seal itself — the pierced gold flower against a leather that reads almost like enamel.
All MBALI hardware — seals, chains, rings, buckles and feet — is cast in solid brass and finished in 24-carat gold. Africa is where gold comes from; we see no reason to hide it in silver.
