A generous bucket bag reworked through the House of MBALI design language. Its rounded shield body is built from overlapping petal panels rather than a conventional four-corner bucket, creating soft sculptural volume without sacrificing practicality.
Bonolo

A sculptural soft hobo that softens with wear. Cut so the hide's natural grain runs unbroken from strap to base, with an exterior left entirely clean — no mark, no hardware on show.
The Origin Record
Every piece is numbered, and the number means something.
The seal is struck on the reverse with the piece serial, linked to the Hide Origin ID of the material it was cut from. Both numbers appear on your certificate and are held in the MBALI Origin Register in Cape Town.

One master artisan takes responsibility for each piece — from reading and allocating the hide to cutting, shaping, saddle-stitching, finishing and final registration.

The hides we work with come through licensed conservation programmes, and the meat from every field day is donated onward to children's homes and nearby communities. Our funded education commitment is being formalised with named partners, and we will publish it here — with the figures — once those agreements are signed.
